{"id":718,"date":"2021-04-01T22:01:22","date_gmt":"2021-04-01T09:01:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/andnow.me\/?p=718"},"modified":"2024-01-11T20:18:20","modified_gmt":"2024-01-11T07:18:20","slug":"on-right-and-wrong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/andnow.me\/snippet\/2021\/on-right-and-wrong\/","title":{"rendered":"On Right and Wrong"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>I wrote these words in late 2011 \u2014 I still believe in them today.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter what you think, no matter what you believe, no matter your intentions, there will always be someone who disagrees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the only meaningful course of action is to stand up for, stand behind your beliefs, just remember that \u2013 to the other person \u2013 you\u2019re just as wrong as you think they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because there\u2019s every chance they have the same level of conviction as you, that makes you wrong. Even if you don\u2019t believe it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The better person, while standing up for their beliefs, keeps an open mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Failure to understand this fundamental fact leads to political, cultural, ethnic and religious conflict. Conflict which gives neither party any lasting gain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mutual respect and understanding makes winners of everyone and leads to the best outcomes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I wrote these words in late 2011 \u2014 I still believe in them today.
